I'm on Day 5 of my May budget . . . already pretty aware of what I'm doing right and what I need to pull back on . . .
I've already spent half of my food and household supplies budget ($125.00 and I've spent $63.71).
I've already spent $20.00 on my dining out budget of $75.00 - mostly on Starbucks.
And I've already had an unbudgeted expense arise - a vet visit for my kitten that cost me $65.
So I need to take a look at how things are going. First of all, I need to cut back on the coffee. My challenge for the next three work days (I'm off Friday) is to bring my own coffee or tea.
For the groceries, I think I'm set for the rest of this work week . . . except I need to pick up some veggies for a soup I'm making but that'll be cheap (a couple carrots and a potato). However, next weekend SB and I are going camping for 4 days (3 nights). I need to be extremely frugal in my shopping for that trip.
I've been extremely good on my personal spending budget of $50.00 - haven't spent a dime there . . . nor have I spent anything on my hair budget (also $50.00) although I'm tempted to get my hair cut I'll put it off another month - I want to go shorter. I just got my hair done about 4 weeks ago so I don't NEED it.
Right now I just need to look into adjusting my budget to cover Luna's vet expenses. I have set aside $40 for unexpected car expenses so I'll probably use that . . . and 12.50 from each my personal and dining out budget (grrr!).
I feel good about my budget though. Twice in the last few days I have been at a mall and walked out completely empty handed. Also - another major success of the last few days is that I paid all my credit cards ON TIME. Next month I'll have one of them paid all the way off!!!

You are doing incredible on your new budget!! Camping can be so incredibely inexpensive and fun. However, it is REALLY hard for me to come up with vegetarian ideas for meals! My camping meals are usually carnivorous in nature! HAHA!
There are vegetarian hot dogs that are not bad at all...
Don't get frustrated by things such as the vet bill. After you have been doing this for awhile you can include stuff like that into your yearly budget.
The beautiful thing about online banking though, is that at the end of the month you can put your surplus from your budget right into savings. DOn't even think about it just do it. Maybe even try to set your budget higher so that you typically have more left over at the end of the month. Its all a psychological thing, I guess.
